“Photography is, for me, a form of meditation.” – Teresa Hoens
Arizona has been my home for over 16 years and I’ve been photographing the beautiful southwest since I first arrived. One of my favorite areas is the wilderness of Northern Arizona. Stepping onto any given trail with a camera provides endless fun as I marvel at the beauty Nature affords.
Born and raised in Appalachian country near the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, I was surrounded by nature. As a child I was amazed by the many hidden worlds that existed all around but which were hidden to the naked eye. The camera lens allowed me to peek into the fascinating world of insects, mushrooms, and the myriad of living things that went unnoticed by passersby.
This fascination with the details of my natural surroundings has led me on a journey of capturing such beauty on camera. Now that I’m semi-retired, my passion has developed into a full-time hobby. Although I’ve had no formal training and my equipment is basic, my love for capturing the essence of life on this planet is reflected in my work.
